Microcosm Series

2011-2013

This series explores principals of symmetry in nature through the optical qualities of thick blown glass. Within each piece is encaptulated a single air bubble which reflects the pattern carved through the black layer of glass. The surface of each piece is heavily carved to mirror the patterns within, and a single lens provides a window into the work.

The works are mostly monochromatic - using just black and clear glass. This has allowed the focus to remain on pattern, texture and form.
